Virgil van Dijk provided an update on his Anfield future and opened up on Mohamed Salah's contract situation after Liverpool's win over Spurs.

ToggleThe Reds captain is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract and from January 1st he will be free to negotiate deals with clubs outside of the Premier League. Amid speculation over his future at Anfield, Van Dijk said there is "no deadline" when it comes to making a decision on his future.

Speaking to reporters after Liverpool's 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, the 33-year-old Dutch defender said: "There is no deadline at all. We will see what the future brings. Is there an update? No."
Salah, who starred with a brace against Spurs, is also in the final year of his existing contract and is yet to sign a new deal. Speaking on the Egyptian's future, Van Dijk added: "The numbers speak for themselves. He’s a very special athlete. He’s done amazingly for the club and hopefully, he can play his best season ever for the club, stay important with his goals and assists and be clinical. He is a professional. We’ve been there, he’s been there, so onto the next (game). And next season? I don’t know."
The Premier League leaders will be back in action on Boxing Day as they take on Leicester City at Anfield. Yet fans will have to wait and see if the duo remain at the club past the end of the current campaign.
